Host and Producer
Host & Producer, Quartr video series
We are developing a new video format at Quartr focused on thoughtful, long-form storytelling about public companies.
To lead this, we are hiring someone who will serve as both the host on camera and the project owner. This is a role that demands a rare mix of business fluency, editorial judgment, production coordination, and on-camera presence. You will not be a passive contributor. You will shape the format, lead the process, and define how a new generation of investors and operators understands companies.
We will support you with a creative team, freelance video crew, and internal resources.
For the right person, this is a rare opportunity to combine a deep interest in business with the ability to create high-quality, globally distributed content.
Personal traits
Curiosity. You are a naturally inquisitive person who wants to understand how things work. You are the type of person who reads footnotes, asks follow-up questions, and dives deep into unfamiliar business models. Intellectual curiosity is the foundation of this role.
Ownership mentality. This is not a support role. You will be responsible for planning and driving each production cycle. That includes setting timelines, aligning stakeholders, maintaining quality standards, and solving problems under pressure. You must be comfortable taking responsibility for both strategic direction and day-to-day execution.
Communication and presence. You should be comfortable speaking with founders, executives, and operators, and able to quickly build rapport. Over time, you must also be confident in front of a camera. Hosting experience is not a requirement, but you must be willing to grow into it.
Taste and editorial Judgment. You should have a clear sense of what makes a scene, an interview, or a sequence visually and narratively compelling. You are not expected to film or edit yourself, but you must be able to collaborate closely with editors, and designers, and give clear, informed feedback.
Audience understanding. You think beyond execution and care deeply about how content is received. You are always considering what will keep someone watching, what will help them remember the story, and what will earn their trust.
Calm under pressure. Production is inherently unpredictable. You must be able to stay focused, make good decisions, and maintain a steady pace even when schedules shift or challenges arise.
Requirements
Strong understanding of business fundamentals across a range of industries and companies. Whether it’s how airlines price tickets, what makes a great serial acquirer, or what makes a luxury brand valuable, you’re someone who can dig in, understand the business model, and explain it clearly. We’re looking for a generalist who’s comfortable jumping between industries and thinking clearly across different types of companies.
Excellent spoken English. Fluency and clarity are required, but native-level or American accents are not.
Working knowledge of video and media production. You do not need to shoot or edit, but you must understand what is needed to brief and manage a freelance production crew.
Experience leading creative or editorial projects. This can come from journalism, media, startups, finance, or other relevant contexts.
Comfortable working autonomously. You will take full ownership of a multi-phase project with multiple stakeholders.
Interest in media and content formats. You should be aware of how long-form and short-form content differ, how content is consumed across platforms, and how production styles vary across industries and formats.
Comfortable iterating. Reworking scripts, structures, or scenes based on feedback, pacing, or narrative clarity will be necessary.
This role may fit you even if you haven’t hosted before. Whether you’ve worked as an Equity Research Analyst, in Equity Sales, Investor Relations, Strategy Consulting, Financial Journalism, or in editorial roles like Business Editor, Finance Podcast Host, or Financial Content Marketer. What matters most is your ability to understand how companies create value and turn that into clear, compelling stories.
Why this role is different
This role offers a rare opportunity to build something original at the intersection of business, media, and storytelling. You will spend your time studying companies, speaking with decision-makers, and translating operational detail into clear, structured narratives. You will travel, conduct on-site interviews, and go deeper than what can be understood by pure numbers.
There are no expectations around performance marketing, lead conversion, or trend optimization. What we are building is long-term, high-quality, and editorially driven. The priority is to create content that stands the test of time. We want to highlight great companies and explain what actually makes them great, showing how they operate, how they create value, and how the numbers reflect what’s happening on the ground.
You will not be an expert at every part of this when you begin. That is expected. What matters is that you are willing to take responsibility, improve with each project, and commit to the standards we have. You will be supported by a team that values hard work, creative depth, and original thinking. The expectation is clear: to push the boundaries of what business content can be and to raise the standard with every project.
For the right person, this is a unique opportunity to build a new format from the ground up, explore the world of business at a depth few ever reach, and contribute at the forefront of a new kind of financial storytelling.
